Ryan Braun: $105 million man
The Hebrew Hammer and the brewers have agreed to a 5 year contract extension that will keep Braun in MKE through the 2020 season. At just over $21 million a season, the crew is taking a huge risk, considering he was already locked in through 2015 and he will be 36 when the contract is over. Clearly the Brewers are making a statement to their fans that they are gonna keep theyre own guys. Big paydays for Braun, Weeks, Hart, and Yo as well as the addition of Greinke and Marcum shows the Brewers are here to win. That's great because they arent going to. I've been going to watch the Brew Crew my whole life and I can honestly say I don't think they will ever compete for a championship. Prince is gone after the year FOR SURE people and as far as the future at 1st base, Mat Gamel is apparently not the option. The only respectable minor league 1st baseman is Brock Kjelgaard, and he is a .270 20 HR minor league guy and projects worse in the MLB. I have heard the Angels are interested in adding Prince this offseason. If thats the case, why not try to work in a little Fielder for Kendry Morales swap. Unlikely? yes, smart? I think so. As long as Kendry isnt allowed to celebrate he is a stud. As far as this season goes, if Axford doesnt get his shit together, this bullpen is in BIG trouble. Axford, Braddock, HAwkins, Saito does not strike fear into any hitter. Bottom line is Melvin and Attanasio locked up their money maker. Whether it is too long or not is trivial right now, but one thing is for sure. Ryan Braun is a celebrity athlete. He sells tickets, he sells jerseys and he can hit. For a few years anyway the crew made the right choice with Braun.
